The Wildberry Inn, situated on US Route 2 just three miles east of Gorham, NH, lies in the heart of the White Mountains National Forest. In fact, the storied Appalachian Trail crosses our wooded back lot. A mountain stream tumbles into the pond in the back yard where guests like to spend summer afternoons sipping a beverage..or reading a book..or drifting into a daydream choreographed by a whispering breeze and a murmuring waterfall.
Some guests meander along the cross country ski trails which are on the property or amble a quarter of a mile down the North Road. There, the bridge over the Androscoggin River provides spectacular long views of the Presidential Range's craggy peaks are sometimes capped with snow while red and orange maples, golden oaks, yellow birches, and green conifers create the greatest foliage show on earth.

The Wildberry Inn is an 1877 salt box. Although much of the Inn has been remodeled, many of its original features can be seen in the common rooms.

The "Barn", a stand-alone suite with a bedroom and bath upstairs and a living room downstairs, easily accommodates up to four people. Amenities include a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, fireplace, and a bookcase stuffed with a wide range of books and games. A wall of windows affords a view of the pond, gardens, and waterfall.

Other rooms are appointed with a queen bed, a twin bed and a private bath. All rooms are provided with a TV and VCR and a selection of recent movies from the Inn's extensive video tape library.

A hearty country breakfast features fresh-picked berries and other fruits in season, homemade pastries and breads, juice, and coffee. Entrees include strawberry or blueberry pancakes or French toast, all of which beg to be smothered in genuine North Country maple syrup. And the bountiful table is always warmed by the conversation of guests sharing cultures from places as far-flung as Turkey, Korea, Australia, France, Germany, and Sweden or as close as Toronto, Montreal (4 hours north), Boston (3.2 hours south), or Bangor (3 hours east).

Off-season room rates begin at $79 for a double room and $99 per night for a suite. Call 603-466-5049
